Otley "Armed Forces" Day

EVENT SCHEDULE

Otley "Armed Forces" Day will commence with a march from Billams Hill car park into Otley. The parade will end on Kirkgate Otley where a host of fun filled family entertainment will take place within the town on Kirkgate, Newmarket, Boroughgate, Westgate and in the Market square.

11:30  - 12:00 Noon


Line the streets, wave your flags, cheer and clap as our Armed Forces march through our town, joined by many other organisations showing their support. Let us show our service men and women that we do care and appreciate everything thing they do to ensure we have the right to live in peace.

The marching parade consists of the following units and groups (subject to change according to Military Availability).

  • Band of 2168 Squadron (yeadon) ATC
  • Royal Air Force Cadets
  • Junior Soldiers from Harrogate Army Foundation College
  • North & West Yorkshire Army Cadet
  • Sea Cadets
  • Royal Marine Cadets
  • Royal Marine Cadets Band
  • Royal Military Police association
  • Royal British Legion
  • Blind Vetrans Association
  • Scouts
  • Cubs
  • Girl Guides







12:00 PM - 5:30 PM

A fun packed afternoon of entertainment and stalls for you and your family to enjoy. (please be aware that the entertainment is subject to change)

  • Guest Appearance by Winston Churchill lookalike
  • Band of The Royal Marines Cadets in the Market square
  • Otley Brass Band in the Market Square
  • Singer Emeli Mumford on Stange
  • Tony Myers and The Names on Stage
  • Electronic Clay Pidgeon Shooting
  • Displays from Army Cadets at their stall
  • Displays from Sea cadets at their stall
  • Displays from Royal Airforce Cadets at their stage
  • Tea Coffee etc stall
  • Candy Floss and sweets stall
  • Childrens fair ground rides
  • Teens fair ground rides
  • Military vehicles on display
  • Stalls from SSAFFA, Royal British Legion, Otley Lions plus many many more

Once the parade arrives at Kirkgate a Salute will be taken by invited dignitaries from Army, Navy, Air Force and joined by Lord Lieutenant of Yorkshire, Deputy Lieutenant and Otley town Mayor.

Followed by a great fun filled afternoon of entertainment.
